Expanding on What I Do

Well, hello! I wanted to elaborate more on personal training today. Which, by the way, is the simplest of terms for what I do. Like I said previously, I prefer to view it as preventative, rehabilitative, and maintenance care of the body! We are either trying to prevent poor health, rehabilitate into better health, or maintain good health. There are for sure stigmas and all because of the trainers that had or have duller perspectives than this and only care about making money.

Back in 205 or 2016, I scheduled a consultation with a trainer at a local gym because I wasn’t happy with my figure and at this time I also didn’t have a sport or activity that I was in, nor did I have my daughter. I thought I might be interested in a lifting or bikini competition. But I got to this gym and within 5-10 minutes, this tall, super muscular dude introduces himself to me. Right off the bat I felt like he was too busy for me, there was a lack of personal conversation, and he basically jumped right to “why do you want to pay me”, in more professional words. Furthermore, he spoke to me using a lot of medical terminology that most clients don’t care for because they (and me at the time) don’t know what it all means. It sounds like scary, expensive gibberish. It concluded with him wanting me to log everything I ate and did (for activity) for a week and come back. And the weird thing to me about that part now is that he clearly stated later that he didn’t offer nutrition services or meal planning. I don’t think we ever talked about price, the amount of sessions he thought I'd be doing, etc. There was no plan. He just wanted every part of my week tracked before even taking me on as a client. What did I do, you might ask? I got bored and lost motivation within a couple days of this terrible consultation. And now, how the tables have turned!

When I have a new client, I am not tracking everything they eat and do in our first week, are you kidding me? That’s the most miserable way to start. Here, let me just watch you do all the things you came to me for help with for a week before we have any conversation or session of importance? No. We are going to have a legit consultation which consists of becoming acquaintances at the least! We are going to find out what exactly healthier living looks like to you, what you think needs to happen to get there, and make sure that you think I'm the right person to help you achieve all of those things. Then we are going to sign a training and payment agreement among other forms, and that’s it on the first day! The rest of that week consists of questionnaires, a movement assessment, teaching you how to use the apps that you’re going to use instead of just saying “download this app and you should be able to figure out the rest”. And then beyond that week, it’s not about how far I can push someone or make them sweat during their workouts. It’s not about how hateful of a meal plan they are willing to put up with. I want to give people tangible results that are made in a pleasant way, and gives them the tools to commit to healthier living for their lifetime. All of these things are so much more achievable when it’s done with a proper mindset and better process than the guy that I went to!

Alright, that’s my speech for the week. Personal Training is more than just ripped dudes in gyms, and I have a passionate outlook on it that I wanted to share more on! I also have some announcements, if you will. I officially got my Business Certification Letter back, signed by Montan’s Secretary of State. Now I own my brand name and nobody can take it for at least five years and more if I refile on time!

Also, I got my SquareUp account set up. You can book three different types of consultations with me through there and make payments for services/programs. Speaking of payments, I have two discounts that I activated. The first one is for 10% off of any service or program and it will be good through August 31st, 2022: SUMMER10. The second one is good through December 31st, 2022 at 22% off for people who want to simultaneously commit to a workout program and nutrition coaching: COMMIT22. I also decided to invest in an app called “Evolution Nutrition” where meal plans, grocery lists, and more are available to you via a phone app or the computer! It’s an amazing tool and I recommend it to everyone. So there you have it, the scoop on how I run this thing, and then all of the announcements that you were paying super careful attention to and will take advantage of!

I have the pertinent links attached and as always, it's a great day to have a great day!
